Group Parent Training Director, Osmin Quijano
The parent training program at ICAN was founded by Osmin Quijano, M.S., BCBA, to make parents active partners in their child’s development. The program is built on the belief that real progress happens when families and professionals work closely together. Parents learn practical tools and strategies that they can use every day. They gain knowledge and confidence to help their child grow beyond therapy sessions. The program emphasizes collaboration, consistency, and individualized guidance. It shows parents how to turn everyday routines into learning opportunities. By involving parents fully, the program ensures that children thrive in all areas of life, not just in the therapy room.
Every small step a parent takes in learning becomes a giant step in their child’s growth. Parent training isn’t about changing who you are, but about gaining the tools to better understand, support, and guide your child toward success.

Overview
At ICAN we believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers. Therefore, we walk alongside families, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way. Parent training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is more than just a service, it is a collaborative journey that places parents at the heart of their child’s development. The most powerful changes happen not only in therapy sessions but in the everyday moments shared between a parent and child.
Through guided training, parents gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to transform daily routines into meaningful learning opportunities, turning simple interactions into steppingstones for lifelong growth.
Mission Statement:
To equip families with practical tools, evidence-based strategies, and collaborative guidance that transform everyday moments into opportunities for learning, connection, and lifelong progress.
Vision Statement:
To create a future where every parent, regardless of background, feels empowered, confident, and supported as the most impactful partner in their child’s growth and success.
Our Approach
ICAN’s approach to parent training is rooted in empowerment. Parents are not asked to change who they are; instead, they are supported in discovering practical tools and evidence-based strategies that help them:
- Encourage positive behavior by reinforcing strengths and building new skills.
- Nurture communication and social skills that help children connect meaningfully with others.
- Respond effectively to challenges with strategies that reduce stress and build resilience.
Through hands-on coaching, modeling, and consistent collaboration, families learn to build consistency across environments: home, school, and community, so children can experience success wherever they go.
The Benefits
The impact of parent training extends far beyond the therapy room:
- Children thrive through consistent guidance, stronger family connections, and reduced stress within the home.
- Parents gain confidence and feel equipped (with evidence-based strategies) to support their child with patience and purpose.
Each new skill mastered by a parent becomes a ripple of progress, fostering independence, resilience, and hope.
